Park and Bark Dog Matting Policy

At Park and Bark, the health and well-being of your dog are our top priority. Severely matted coats can be uncomfortable, painful, and even dangerous for your pet, which is why we have implemented the following matting policy:

1. Understanding Matting

Matting occurs when a dog’s fur becomes tangled and knotted, which can pull on the skin, restrict air circulation, and cause skin irritations, infections, or sores. In severe cases, mats can even lead to restricted blood flow or cause injury to your pet. Regular grooming helps prevent matting, but if it becomes severe, special care is required to safely remove it.

2. Additional Fees for De-Matting

In cases of de-matting is required, we will consult with you before proceeding, but please note that this can be the best option to avoid causing unnecessary pain or stress to your dog. A matting fee of $35 per half an hour will apply.

3. Risks of Mat Removal

While we take every precaution to ensure your dog’s comfort and safety, mat removal can sometimes cause skin irritation, nicks, or cuts due to the tightness of the mats. We will inform you if we encounter any issues during the grooming process, and if necessary, we will recommend veterinary attention.

4. Prevention

To avoid matting, we recommend regular grooming appointments and at-home brushing. If you are unsure how often your dog needs grooming based on their coat type, we would be happy to advise you on the best care routine.

By booking a grooming appointment, you agree to the terms of this matting policy. If your dog requires de-matting or shaving due to severe matting, you consent to any additional fees and understand the risks involved. We will always attempt to contact you if additional services are required, but if we are unable to reach you, we will proceed with what we believe to be the best option for your pet’s health and comfort.
